Age-friendly design demands to undertake multiple approaches from early conception, as the property options (Ownership; Rental; Co-housing + Co-care / Cooperatives…), the urban design (open public spaces; transport & infrastructures; sanitary and social services; neighbourhood participation strategies, mix of activities in a vibrant space …), or the adapted solutions for different locations (rural; resort; suburban; urban…).
Age-friendly housing also needs to incorporate from conception accessibility strategies (adaptable units / accessible units / visitable units…), multigenerational environments, affordable housing programs and a full package of detailed design solutions for mobility, lighting, furniture and wellness.
